Exactly. This kind of gross and idiotic marketing is never done in reverse, because doing/using “men’s things” is rarely directed at women as an insult. It usually connotates praise.
Also, what kind of asshole does this marketing campaign actually WORK on?
I was in the car driving with my boyfriend and this commercial came on the radio and I said something about how fucked up it was and he’s said, “Why do people get so upset about this kind of stuff? It’s just a joke.”
I was livid.
And he says stuff like this all the time.
About why the need for diversity and affirmative action, etc. as if “the problem is fixed.”
And it’s so frustrating because I feel like he’s saying it solely to piss me off. But I also think it’s because he really doesn’t know what’s going on in the world. And I don’t know which is worse.
Dr. Pepper has a diet drink. Socially, everyone associates diet drinks with women; calorie cutters and losing weight. Dr. Pepper made this ad so their product reaches an unreached demographic: men. It means more money for them. Unfortunately, companies will really do anything for money. Sexism? Feminism? Psh. Money. That’s what they care about.

It’s weird to think about how the person you’re going to marry and spend the rest of your life with is alive and walking on this Earth at this very moment. You might already know who they are or you could have no idea and they could be a few blocks away or on the completely opposite side of the Earth. The way you meet them can be completely random but it’ll change your whole life for the better. It’s a good feeling.

This is my tattoo, it says “patient, fine, balanced, kind”. I got it because after I’d cut myself I’d listen to the song Skinny Love by Bon Iver and eventually I took it as though he were speaking to me, so those were the things I started striving to be. I got it in white ink so it’d look like a scar and blend in with the other scars and I’d see that if I started feeling sad again. It’s in my handwriting, which makes it more personal.
